When searching the internet…
- use specific search terms
- put the most important search terms first
- use common terms (e.g. instead of saying
- use ~ to look for similar terms ==> ~impacts (looks for similar terms such as effects, consequences as well)
- use ” “ for exact phrases ==> “industrial revolution”
- use – before a word to remove it from search results ==> london -england
- search a specific domain name ==> site:.edu (only searches .edu sites)
- use Boolean operators
- and ==> Vancouver and tourism (looks for both)
- or ==> quebec or Ontario (looks for either one)
- not ==> college not university (looks for college NOT university)
