Ricoh Office Solutions Scholarship

Criteria

The scholarship is awarded to a student who, while maintaining a good academic standing has made a significant contribution to the school by demonstrating good citizenship and involvement in school activities.

To be considered for the scholarship the student should have:
• Demonstrated good citizenship
• Been actively involved in school service
• Maintained a good academic standing

The scholarship will be awarded upon proof of registration in a post secondary program at BCIT. Students must claim the award within two (2) years of graduating from secondary school. Consideration will be given to student with financial need.

Value

$200 for one Burnaby North student that meets above criteria.

Parkland Burnaby Refinery Award

Criteria

The Burnaby Parkland Refinery is offering a scholarship to each of the Burnaby secondary graduates. Students must demonstrate good to excellent academic standing, school and/or community involvement,  and will be attending post-secondary in one of the following areas.

  • Engineering
  • Environmental Sciences
  • Business

$1000 for a BNSS student

Due Date

PAPER or ONLINE to Ms. Mihic by Friday, APRIL 4, 2025 before 3PM.

Procedure

Must submit a cover letter including intended area of post-secondary studies, resume including school and/or community involvement and a recent copy of your transcript  to Student Services or as a single PDF by email to Ms. Mihic (dragana.mihic@burnabyschools.ca) by due date.

Jean Ip Foundation Scholarship

Criteria

Founded on August 6, 2018, as a charitable organization under the Income Tax Act of Canada (Charitable Registration No. 771509718RR0001), Jean Ip Foundation’s mission is to empower individuals facing financial hardship by providing the resources they need to achieve their educational goals and create a brighter future.  One of the foundation’s goals is advancing education by providing scholarships, bursaries, and financial assistance to help students access post-secondary education.

Applicants must:

✔ Demonstrate financial need with supporting documentation

✔ Show strong academic performance and community involvement

✔ Provide proof of acceptance to an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution

✔ Be a Permanent Resident of Canada

To apply, candidates must submit:

✅ A 250-word Letter of Intent

✅ Supporting documents (acceptance letter, tuition invoice, and reference letter)

Burnaby Sport Hall of Fame Scholarship

Criteria

The Burnaby Sports Hall of Fame was formed in 2001 to honour Burnaby’s past athletic excellence.

  • • A graduating Grade 12 student enrolled at a B.C. secondary school (public or private);
    • A resident of Burnaby for at least the past three years;
    • Future plans to attend a post-secondary institution on a full-time basis;
    • Show evidence of high athletic ability and performance;
    • Maintain minimum C+ average (copy of the most recent transcript must be included);
    • Demonstrated leadership; and
    • Be active in school and community.
Value

2 x $1,000 scholarships to to athletes from Burnaby.

Retail Council of Canada Scholarship

Criteria

Scholarships awarded to currently enrolled full-time or part-time at a Canadian college or university for Fall 2, pursuing a retail, business, fashion, marketing or any other retail related post-secondary program, and currently working part-time or full-time within the retail industry.

1 Top Scholarship @ $5,000

1 Canadian Retail Hall of Fame Scholarship @ $3,000

16 Industry-Sponsored scholarships@ $1,000

BCIT Pathways to Success Awards

Criteria

Students must have applied to a full time first year technology, technical studies, or trade program (excluding Apprentice) and have a BCIT student number before being considered for an award. Selection is based on demonstrated leadership skills and/or additional responsibilities. Examples are: Leadership training/courses, volunteer and/or community service, work experience, captain/president of sports team or group, involvement in extracurricular activities, plays a major role in supporting their family, financially or otherwise

2 per Burnaby School District student @ $3,000 each to be selected by district panel

Rotary Club of Burnaby – Deer Lake Community Leadership Scholarship

Criteria

This scholarship is awarded annually to a well-rounded student who has demonstrated strong citizenship and leadership skills as demonstrated through voluntary participation in community and school activities. The scholarship shall be applicable towards postsecondary education or trades training at any approved institution.

To be considered for this scholarship, applicant students should have:
➢ demonstrated good citizenship and strong leadership skills.
➢ been actively involved in community service and / or volunteer work.
➢ been actively involved in youth initiatives, activities and events in the Burnaby
community.
➢ been actively involved in school-based activities; and
➢ actively pursuing relevant school coursework.

Value

A scholarship of $1000 will be awarded to a Senior Secondary student in the Burnaby School District. Funds will be administered through the Rotary Club of Burnaby – Deer Lake.

Leanne Sjodin Melorial Bursary

Criteria

This bursary is provided in honour of Burnaby teacher, Leanne Sjodin, who taught from 2000 to 2023. Leanne was also the president of the Burnaby Teachers’ Association from 2018 to 2020, and an artist, mother, and friend. She was passionate about social justice and making the world a better place.

This bursary is intended for a Burnaby student in grade 8-12 who is involved in school
and/or community activities (clubs, fundraisers, events, outreach, student government, etc)
who works towards lessening the harms of poverty, homelessness, inequality, and/or
injustice.

BC School Sports Scholarships

Criteria

Refer to .pdf for specific information on the following  scholarships:

  • Dave Gifford Memorial – 2 @ $1500 (for male and female each) & BCSS Zone Scholarship 2 @ $750 each for male and female) – essay component
  • Bert and Greta Quartermine Badminton Scholarship – Six (6) $1000 scholarships will be awarded to the most worthy candidates – minimum of Two (2) Males and Two (2) Females – essay component
  • BC Indigenous Student Scholarship – (2) $750 for one male and one female student
  • BC Dairy Association Scholarship – 2@ $1000 each (1 female; 1 male) – essay component

BCSTA Scholarship for Student Citizenship

Criteria

The BCSTA Scholarships for Student Citizenship recognize graduating students for outstanding contributions they have made to their school and community. Additional criteria:

  • This scholarship recognizes graduating B.C. public school students who have displayed exemplary citizenship within their school and community.
  • Students must be graduating from a B.C. public school in the 2024/2025 school year.
  • Students must submit a completed application in the required format by the application deadline.
  • The scholarship is only available to residents of B.C.
