This term students participated in activities designed to develop the Core Competencies of Creative and Critical thinking, Communication and Personal and Social Responsibility. This term students focused on the Big Ideas that designs can be improved with prototyping and testing, skills are developed through practice, effort, and action, and the choice of technology and tools depends on the task. Throughout students were asked to reflect on their learning and what they learned, noticed and wonder.
In our “maker lab” students explored a variety of tools and technology including Dash n’ Dot robots, littleBits electronic circuits, Keva planks, Lego, stop motion animation and Makey Makey. For their final project students chose which tools and technology they wanted to use and were challenged to make something new using the design process. Students presented their projects to the group and reflected on their learning.
