CUPE Local 23 Scholarship

Criteria

The CUPE Local 23 scholarship is awarded to one student in each of Burnaby’s secondary schools who meets the following criteria:

The scholarship will be awarded to a student who has:
▪ Maintained a good academic standing
▪ Demonstrated good citizenship in school and the community
▪ Participated in volunteer activities

Scholarship will be awarded to a student who is going on to a BC post secondaryor vocational training program. Consideration should be given to a student with financial need.

$500 to a Burnaby North student

Julie Cole Bursary

Criteria

This award will support a student pursuing a career in Occupational Health and Safety through post-secondary studies with demonstrated genuine financial need.

  • Applications will be accepted from students enrolling in a full-time, accredited Occupational Health and Safety program at college or university in BC (BCIT, UBC) for the 2023-2024 year
  • Applications will be accepted from high school graduates and those furthering their education in health and safety graduate studies as outlined in the list of qualified programs
  • Applicants will submit abstracts showing their academic results
  • Applicants will submit an essay of 750 to 1,200 words explaining why workplace health and safety is important to them, and why they are pursuing this course of study
  • Applicants will include information about their financial need in their application
  • Applicants will be Canadian citizens or permanent residents residing in the province of B.C.

G&F Financial Group Award

Criteria

Young adults are the face of our future and at Gulf & Fraser, we have made a commitment to support their quest for higher education. Annually, we award several scholarships and bursaries to students in our communities.

Preference will be given to students who are members of Gulf & Fraser or who have family who are members; however, all students are eligible to apply if they are in good academic standing and those who demonstrate financial need.

*One award is for a qualified candidate who identifies as an individual of Indigenous ancestry. Should there not be a qualified candidate that fits the criteria, the award will be extended to all students who fulfill the requirements, but who are not of Indigenous ancestry.

BCSTA Scholarship for Student Citizenship

Criteria

The BCSTA Scholarships for Student Citizenship recognize graduating students for outstanding contributions they have made to their school and community. Additional criteria:

  • This scholarship recognizes graduating B.C. public school students who have displayed exemplary citizenship within their school and community.
  • Students must be graduating from a B.C. public school in the 2023/2024 school year.
  • Students must submit a completed application in the required format by the application deadline.
  • The scholarship is only available to residents of B.C.

3 @ $750 (to be paid directly to recipient’s post-secondary institution)

A supporting document, saved in PDF format, containing a signed consent form and two reference letters (school and community), must be included as part of the submission.

Applicants must use the following naming convention: lastname-firstname-scholarship.pdf. For example, if your name is Jane Doe, your file will be named doe-jane-scholarship.pdf. The order of supporting documents must be as follows:

Ricoh Office Solutions Scholarship

Criteria

The scholarship is awarded to a student who, while maintaining a good academic standing has made a significant contribution to the school by demonstrating good citizenship and involvement in school activities.

To be considered for the scholarship the student should have:
• Demonstrated good citizenship
• Been actively involved in school service
• Maintained a good academic standing

The scholarship will be awarded upon proof of registration in a post secondary program at BCIT. Students must claim the award within two (2) years of graduating from secondary school. Consideration will be given to student with financial need.

Value

$200 for one Burnaby North student that meets above criteria.
