INTERESTED IN ATTENDING UNIVERSITY IN THE U.S.?

GRADE 11 & 12 STUDENTS who are interested in attending university in the United States are invited to attend two events held in the Lower Mainland:

1)  October 5 @ St. George’s School (Vancouver) @ 7:00pm:  Representatives from the following US universities will discuss academic programs and admission policies:  Princeton, Harvard, Columbia, Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, and the University of Pennsylvania.

2)  October 15:  The US University and College Fair.  This is an excellent opportunity to hear from representatives from over over 75 US College institutions regarding their programs and admission requirements.  The Fair will take place at the West Point Grey Academy (4125 West 8th Ave., Vancouver) and will be open to students and their parents between 4:00PM and 5:00PM.  There is no fee for attending this event.  Here is a link to more information about the Fair:​  http://www.wpga.ca/vaisfair.

JOURNALISM SUMMER CAMPS AT LANGARA COLLEGE

INTERESTED IN JOURNALISM? If so, Langara College’s professional Journalism program is running one-week summer camps for high-school students to give them a taste of what being a reporter, photographer and videographer is like. The cost per camp is $375.

Grade 12 students – did you complete the Online PSI form?

If you are graduating and applying to a post-secondary institution this year, you are reminded to complete the Online PSI Selections form by April 30th. If you have already completed this form last fall, then you do not need to do it again. Failure to complete the online PSI form will prevent colleges/universities from getting your marks electronically, and this may put your admission to college/university in jeopardy.

MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK IS MAY 3 TO 10TH!

MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK is coming soon. Burnaby is hosting a special event on May 7th called Think!Well at Byrne Creek Secondary from 4:00 to 8:30pm. All Burnaby students are invited to attend, and this event will offer an opportunity to learn more about the importance of mental health in our lives, attend workshops, and view an art gallery and film screening on the topic of mental health. UBC ENGINEERING PRESENTATION AT MOSCROP

UBC ENGINGEERING PRESENTATION – Monday, April 20th @ lunch in the library.  This presentation is for grade 11 and 12 students interested in studying Applied Sciences in the future, and it will be made by UBC’s Human Powered Vehicle team.  They will provide general info on UBC’s Faculty of Applied Sciences, and how science concepts learned in school are connected to real world applications.

SFU OFFERS NEW DEGREE – BACHELOR OF ENVIRONMENT

Are you interested in pursuing Environmental Studies in the future?  If so, SFU has a brand new degree option starting in September 2015 – the Bachelor of Environment.  This new degree looks into the effects of climate change, delves into natural resource management and offers sustainable business options to those interested in both business and the environment.  If you’re considering future studies in this area and want to learn more, come to an informational meeting on April 22 in the Library at lunch.  Also visit http://www.sfu.ca/fenv.html

  1. April 1st, 7:00-9:00pm @ Langara College – Langara Men’s Soccer Info Session, led by Head Coach Marc Rizzardo (for info on admissions, scholarship opportunities, soccer specific expectations and training programs).
