COURSE SELECTION CONTINUES THIS WEEK…

To date, all grade 8 to 11 classes* have had counsellor visits and course selection presentations.  Students should be completing their course selection forms, getting them signed by parents, entering their courses online according to the instructions they were given, and then returning the original forms to their teachers by the deadline given.  If you missed your presentation or have questions about Course Selection, see your counsellor in room 317.

Note: Grade 8 students do not need to independently enter their selections online, as they will be doing so as a group in the computer lab on Feb 27th /28th.  

*ELL students – your course selection presentation will take place next week (on Feb 20/21) in your ELL classroom.

*If you have any questions about course selection, please see your counsellor in Student Services, room 317.

VANCOUVER INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITIES FAIR – April 30, 2017

This fair will take place on April 30th, 1-4pm at the Vancouver Convention Centre (East). This is a free event and open to all students and parents in B.C.  Last year, there were close to 200 post-secondary institutions from the US, Canada and abroad. ​ Students are encouraged to register in advance of the fair to be able to enter directly to the concourse on Fair day – otherwise they will have to register at the door, rather than enter immediately.

EXPLORE CAPILANO UNIVERSITY INFO NIGHT – March 2, 2017

Grade 11 and 12 students are invited to Capilano University’s North Vancouver campus for their annual Explore Capilano Info Night. This is a great opportunity to learn more about Capilano’s programs, entrance requirements, and university transfer options. Students are encouraged to RSVP at explorecapilano.ca for a chance to win prizes. Free parking will be also be available.

University of Alberta program for Grade 11 students!

ATTENTION GRADE 11’s:  University of Alberta is hosting an event called Boarding UAlberta. It is open to Grade 11 students from across Canada who are interested in spending a weekend in May at the university to see first-hand if Edmonton and UofA are the right fit for them. There will be 20 Grade 11 students selected for this program, and costs will fully be covered (airfare, accommodation and events/activities). To apply, go to uab.ca/boarding

UBC GATEWAY PROGRAMS FOR FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS

Did you know that UBC has four small comprehensive one-year programs offered for first-year students? The Faculty of Arts offers the Arts One Program and the Coordinated Arts Program.  The Faculty of Science offers the Science One Program and the Coordinated Science Program. These programs offer smaller learning communities in a concentrated theme area, and opportunities for more first-year support from professors. SFU presentation at Moscrop – February 9, 2017

Grade 12 students who have applied, or who are planning to apply to SFU: An admissions advisor from SFU will be coming to Moscrop to speak to Grade 12 students on Thursday, February 9th at lunch time in the library.  The next steps in the application process will be discussed: self-reporting grades, understanding the application checklist, scholarship and financial aid, and reviewing important dates and the overall admissions timeline.  There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation.
