University of Alberta – Registration Info Session

UAlberta Admissions Advisors will be in Vancouver this spring to help students who have received an admission offer prepare for their first year of studies (e.g. info on which classes to take in first year, how to design your schedule, how to register…).  Students who have been accepted to UofA are encouraged to attend:

Saturday, April 25, 2015 @ Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver (791 West Georgia St., Vanc.).  Sessions run from 9:30am to 4:00pm ; students must reserve their seat by complete the RSVP online at ualberta.ca/reg101.

SFU HIGH SCHOOL RUGBY PROGRAM – NEW OPPORTUNITY FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN BURNABY

INTERESTED IN TAKING RUGBY CLASSES WHILE AT SCHOOL? The SFU HIGH SCHOOL RUGBY PROGRAM is a high performance rugby training program set in a university environment, and it’s available to male and female students in grades 8-11 in Burnaby. Students will participate in two rugby classes for two blocks every other school day (from 8:45 – 11:15am), then return to their home school (Moscrop) for the remainder of their day. Interested students and parents should attend an informational meeting on Thursday, March 26th at 7:00pm at the SFU University West Mall Complex. UBC ENGINEERING – UPCOMING EVENTS

ENGINEERING EXPLORATIONS 10 – Saturday, March 28, 9am-3:30pm (registration is at 8:30am).  This is a day of engineering activities for Grade 10 girls to explore the exciting and growing field of engineering.  They will be able to talk to current engineering students and professors who will share their stories and experience.  Lunch and snacks will be provided to all registered participants.  Register by March 23 at www.engineering.ubc.ca/connects

SUMMER DAY CAMPS –  UBC Vancouver will be hosting action packed week-long summer day camps, offering a dynamic mix of science, engineering and technology.  Featuring hands-on projects, design competitions and labs.  Camps available for grades 1-12.  For more information visit engineering.ubc.ca/connects

KPU – Kwantlen Polytechnic University

On Wednesday, March 4th from 4:30 – 8:30pm – SFU’s Surrey Campus will host SFU Global Community Open House.  This event is open to students and their families and it’s an opportunity to see SFU’s Surrey campus in action.  Tour the award-winning campus and view interactive displays and learn more about SFU programs, admission, scholarships, career opportunities and more.

UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO – INFO SESSION ON FEB 28TH

If you have applied to the Faculty of Arts & Science (including Rotman Commerce) at the University of Toronto, University of Toronto Mississauga, and University of Toronto Scarborough – you are invited to attend a UofT information session on February 28, 2015.  This info session is for students who are interested in learning about the next steps in the admission process.  It will take place at the Vancouver Convention Centre, 1055 Canada Place, Vancouver, from 2:00 – 5:00pm (registration begins at 1:30pm).

CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY – Information Session on Feb 19th in Vancouver

CAPILANO UNIVERSITY – FACULTY OF ARTS & SCIENCES OPEN HOUSE, February 12th 5-7pm

Grade 11 and 12 students interested in learning more about Capilano’s Faculty of Arts & Sciences program are invited to attend an Open House on Thursday, February 12th, 5:00 – 7:00pm at CapU’s Bosa Centre for Film and Animation Lobby and Theatre.  This is a great opportunity to meet with faculty, staff and students in the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Pure and Applied Sciences.  You will also get to see science labs and classrooms in actions, and discover learning supports such as the Math Learning Centre and Writing Centre.

LANGARA COLLEGE UPDATE

Langara College is offering COURSE PLANNING SESSIONS for new University Studies applicants.  These 90 minute sessions, led by a Counsellor, are designed to help prospective students understand university entrance requirements, as well as requirements for faculties and majors. Participants will be introduced to the various course-planning tools that will assist them in preparing for university transfer.  We ask that new university transfer students attend one of these sessions prior to booking an individual appointment with a counsellor.  These session continue throughout the Spring and Summer semesters, however, additional sessions have been added during the high school Spring Break period.
