BC Colleges/Universities

How do I Apply?

To apply to most BC Post Secondary Institutions, go to Education Planner BC. This website allows you to research programs and schools, and has links where you can apply directly to post-secondary institutions.

TRANSCRIPTS

If you are graduating this year and you’re applying to a post-secondary institution for the next school year, you can send your school transcript electronically by going online to the Ministry of Education’s Transcripts and Certificates website at:  https://www.StudentTranscripts.gov.bc.ca. This web-based service makes secure transcript sharing between students and post-secondary institutions quicker and more convenient. *Failure to submit a transcript on time may delay a student’s admission to post-secondary, so don’t delay!

BC University Second Language Requirements

Although not a graduation requirement, most universities require students to complete at least Language 11:

  • SFU will accept an Introductory Language 11
  • UBC (Vancouver campus) will accept a Language 11
    • However, some faculties require Language 12 or a 1st year language course in order to graduate (e.g. Faculty of Arts)
    • As of September 2026, UBC will no longer have a Language 11 requirement for admission.
  • UBC (Okanagan campus) does NOT require a second language
  • If you are an ELL student you may be eligible for a Language 11 &/or 12 Transfer Credit (see your counsellor to check this)
  • Most other universities in Canada do NOT require a second language
  • NO colleges require a second language
