Granly Legacy Fund Scholarship

Criteria

The scholarships are open to any student in one of those schools and who meets the following eligibility criteria:

a) A permanent residence status in Canada

b) Attended one of the eight high schools for their grade 12 year and is a well rounded student in need of financial assistance to further their education or learning a skill

c)Registered at an accredited post-secondary educational institution in Canada.

d) Must be a kind-spirited individual with a good academic standing and have  demonstrated interest in community volunteering opportunities.

Ricoh Office Solutions Scholarship

Criteria

The scholarship is awarded to a student who, while maintaining a good academic standing has made a significant contribution to the school by demonstrating good citizenship and involvement in school activities.

To be considered for the scholarship the student should have:
• Demonstrated good citizenship
• Been actively involved in school service
• Maintained a good academic standing

The scholarship will be awarded upon proof of registration in a post secondary program at BCIT. Students must claim the award within two (2) years of graduating from secondary school. Consideration will be given to student with financial need.

Value

$200 for one Burnaby North student that meets above criteria.

Parkland Burnaby Refinery Award

Criteria

The Burnaby Parkland Refinery is offering a scholarship to each of the Burnaby secondary graduates. Students must demonstrate good to excellent academic standing, school and/or community involvement,  and will be attending post-secondary in one of the following areas.

  • Engineering
  • Environmental Sciences
  • Business
Value

$1000 for a BNSS student

Due Date

PAPER or ONLINE to Ms. Mihic by Friday, APRIL 4, 2025 before 3PM.

Procedure

Must submit a cover letter including intended area of post-secondary studies, resume including school and/or community involvement and a recent copy of your transcript  to Student Services or as a single PDF by email to Ms. Mihic (dragana.mihic@burnabyschools.ca) by due date.

BCIT Pathways to Success Awards

Criteria

Students must have applied to a full time first year technology, technical studies, or trade program (excluding Apprentice) and have a BCIT student number before being considered for an award. Selection is based on demonstrated leadership skills and/or additional responsibilities. Examples are: Leadership training/courses, volunteer and/or community service, work experience, captain/president of sports team or group, involvement in extracurricular activities, plays a major role in supporting their family, financially or otherwise

2 per Burnaby School District student @ $3,000 each to be selected by district panel

City of Burnaby Bursary Award Program

Criteria
  • Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of the City of Burnaby;
  • Be in Grade 12 and eligible to graduate (within the year of application) from a public secondary school in Burnaby’s School District
  • Be accepted to a program of studies at a post-secondary institution in Canada, such as universities, community colleges, technical schools – proof of registration in a minimum of three courses in a post-secondary institution shall be required before any bursary award payment is made to a recipient
  • Preference will be given to a student who has participated in a community program prior to graduating and can demonstrate outstanding community involvement and volunteerism; and,
  • Students who demonstrate financial need (family income below $50,000) will be given priority.

To Ms. Mihic (paper or email) by FRIDAY, JANUARY 31st  BEFORE 3PM . Disregard the date on the form.

Procedure

Download and complete fillable pdf below  or pick up a paper application in Scholarship Applications tray by Student Services entrance and emailed or delivered to Ms. Mihic by the above date.  The school can nominate up to 3 applicant whereupon the City of Burnaby will select a successful applicant and inform them and the school.

Ted Elphick Bursary

Criteria

In recognition and memory of Ted Elphick, a dedicated educator whose leadership and contribution to the education of challenged students provided a professional legacy for which the Burnaby School District can be proud and thankful.

The Ted Elphick Memorial bursary is awarded annually to a Burnaby resident who has, through positive will and spirit, overcome physical or mental challenges to graduate from a Burnaby secondary school. To be considered for the bursary the student should have:

  • been enrolled in a Burnaby school for five years
  • demonstrated ability and a desire to be a life long learner and continue his or her education at a post secondary institution or in a recognized training program
