There is a website I just found out about that offers free books to read on-line. It’s called We Give Books and is a Pearson Foundation Initiative sponsored by Pearson Publishing and Penguin Books . What’s fabulous about this site is that every time you read a book, a book gets donated to a Literacy program. I have decided that the books I’m going to read will go to the campaign in Africa, Harnessing the Power of Reading. This campaign ties in with the fundraising and volunteer efforts of our school counsellor, Ms.Cousins who works closely with the people of Chanika, a village in Tanzania. She managed to raise funds for a water well which has improved living conditions for the villagers. Click on We Give Books above to go to the website.
