Make a Christmas tree out of old books

Join us in the library during Flex Time this Friday, December 3rd, to learn how to make a Christmas tree craft out of old books. They take quite a while to make, but we’ll get started and then you’re welcome to come back at lunch/after school to work on them, or take them home to work on. If you can’t make it to the workshop, but would still like to make a tree, you can find the instructions here (folded tree) and here (folded again, but with more details)  and here (cutout tree) and are welcome to come and get an old book from the library to use in your craft.

Afrofuturism

mage sourced from You may have seen the Afrofuturism display in the hall outside the library and wondered what it was all about. There is some information on the board, but here’s an interesting article about Afrofuturism and Africanfuturism – a term coined by author Nnedi Okorafor and explained in her blog post “Africanfuturism Defined“.

You can also find more resources in our Afrofuturism Collection in Destiny.
