So much happens in the Fall term: anticipation and plans for the year, crackle of leaves, weather gets a bit more blustery and there’s a definite “autumn feel”. We had a fabulous 2 days of Learning – Intro to Fast ForWord last week. I was thrilled to be part of the journey as we experienced the hands-on exercises, learned some interventions and asked lots of questions. Energy, excitement, a bit of anxiety, hope and lots of community were terms used by the 55 participants. One teacher related that “had no idea just how hard the students had to work during the intense period and that he would be sensitive to that when they returned to class”.
Where are we? (steps…steps…)
All sites are now reviewing student profiles, completing baseline assessments, setting up timetables, enrolling students. A strong starting point is using the DEMO mode with all students so they get an understanding of expectations (accuracy over speed) – focusing on “prevention strategies” rather than “intervention strategies” as much as possible.
A few of our sites are also going through the district reimaging process, which adds a bit of a challenge to the process. We’re looking to a great year as we continue supporting students.
