New in the Makerspace!
Some of you may have noticed the new station we’ve created in the Library for a strange contraption. That is our new Bambu Labs A1 3D printer!!!
Soon, students will be able to design & print their own items. We are still working to get the software installed on our desktop computers and the printer working on the network, but it will be available for student use soon.
Here are some samples of projects we’ve made during testing.
A few things to know before you plan your project:
- You must have done an orientation session with one of the Teacher-Librarians before you plan to print any projects. Check the bulletins for scheduled workshops or ask at the CircDesk to schedule an orientation.
- Printing will not be free. You will be charged for the filament you use and the time/use of the machine. Actual $ to be determined and will be based on the costs of materials and time you use for your project (cost recovery only–we’re not getting rich here).
- Drop-in printing sessions will be limited to 1 hour; reserved printing sessions can be longer, but you must talk to us about your plans and you need to be available to start & finish the project.
- Projects are limited to the colours & filament type we have on hand. Currently we have:
Bambu Basic Bambu Matte Bambu Metal Bambu Silk/Silk+ Black PLA White PLA Iridium Gold Metallic PLA Midnight Blaze PLA (Blue & Red) Green PLA Plum PLA Purple PLA Red PLA Baby Blue PLA Silver PLA
If you are looking online for designs, look for ones that are compatible with a “Bambu Lab A1”.
