Launches are always exciting and this one was all that. How can you not feel the energy being in a room filled with school teams engaged in conversation and laughter. And not to forget our very own Chef Wade catering the event made it even more inviting.
Digital citizenship is everyone’s responsibility. Earlier in the year the secondary group started. Last week was K-7’s turn. The launch started with a framework to guide the Initiative. Highlights included activities to share at staff meetings to connect teachers with experiences. Each month focuses on a specific theme with resources posted on our blog: Digital Literacy and Citizenship.
Monthly themes:
- February – Relationships and Communication
- March – Internet Safety
- April – Footprints and Reputation
- May – Cyberbullying
- June – Credit and Copyright
In addition to schoolwide, classroom activities and contests, there are Parent Connections (activities connected to home). We even have a Twitter hashtag – #SD41DigiCit to share our global stories. We would love to hear what you’re doing with regards to digital literacy and citizenship by leaving comments below.
