Burnaby Public Library Summer Reading Program

The Burnaby Public Library (BPL) will host a summer reading program and their theme this year is “Savour Every Word”. Children are invited to sign up for this program starting on June 20th at their local branch of the BPL. Each child will receive a package which includes a reading sheet to record 50 days of reading. Red Cedar Book Club results

Students in schools all over the Pacific Northwest read a selection of 12 novels and 12 non-fiction books. Voting took place in late April and the students chose Libertdad as the best fiction entry, and Everything but the Kitchen Sink as their favourite non-fiction book.

The votes are in for the Young Reader’s Choice Awards! The winner of the Junior Division is Amulet: The Stonekeeper, and the winner of  the Middle Division is Rapunzel’s Revenge. These are examples of graphic novels which are very popular with students at Ecole Sperling Elementary School.

In early 2011, students will have the opportunity to read books and make a podcast on this site. This podcast will then be available for other children to listen to.
