Ms. Hunger is retiring on Dec. 21st!

Ms. Hunger, the teacher-librarian at École Sperling Elementary School, is retiring on December 21st after many years of teaching in the school district. She has enjoyed teaching and she would especially like to thank all of the many parents and students who have volunteered in the library over the years. Ms. Hunger will miss the entire Sperling school community!

The YRCA 2024 novels have arrived!

If you read at least two of these books you can vote for your favourite one in April 2024.

Welcome to the 2023/2024 school year in the library!

The 2023/2024 Home Reading Club will start on Monday, September 18th this year. Ms. Hunger is looking forward to seeing everyone in the library this fall. Come and visit and see the new books that are on display!

Please return all of the library books that you have borrowed from our school library now. Have a good summer!

Reading Day is Friday, May 19

This year our theme is ” Explore new worlds by reading”. We will do lots of reading-related activities and there will be contests and a READO game. I look forward to reading with all of you!

YRCA voting takes place this week

Vote for your favourite YRCA 2023 novel this week in the library! Voting ballots are in the library on the yellow table. You can vote until April 13th. Come into the library and cast your vote to help determine the winner of this year’s contest!

YRCA 2023 books are here!

This year we have 7 books in the Junior category and students are busy reading them. Students can read a minimum of two of these novels  to be able to vote for their favourite one. Voting will take place in early April. Have fun reading!

Jeff Chiba Stearns presents his books and gives drawing workshop

Author and illustrator Jeff Chiba Stearns came to École Sperling Elementary on Friday, May 20th. He presented his books Mixed Critters, Nori and his delicious dreams, and On being Yukiko to classes and he demonstrated how to draw people and animals. Students enjoyed learning to draw using his techniques! Jeff is a truly talented author and illustrator. You will find his books in our school library later this week.
