Buzz Beaker and the Outer Space Trip          Reviewed by: Caleb

This story was about Buzz who wanted to build a spaceship but one he built was too small and the other one he built couldn’t go higher than a mailbox.  Will Buzz ever get a ride in a spaceship? Read this book to find out.                                                        

My favourite part was when Buzz started new plans to build a spaceship because he didn’t give up. My favourite character was Buzz because he built two spaceships.

The author really made the story cool because Buzz got to ride in a spaceship at night. The illustrator made the aliens look cool. 

The message in the story was never give up.

I would recommend this book to someone who likes aliens.  

 

Spiderman versus The Green Goblin        Reviewed by:  Hans

This is about a boy called Harry and his dad is lost.  Spiderman helps Harry find his dad who is turned into a goblin.  My favourite part of this story was when Spiderman ripped down the goblin’s mask.  Will Spiderman save [or find] Harry’s dad?  Read this book to find out.

A funny part of this story was when Harry’s dad wanted to take over the city.  The author really wanted us to learn a lesson from this story.  The lesson I learned from this story is that we can’t do anything bad.  I would recommend this book because people who like Spiderman will like this book.

 Mr. Christmas         Reviewed by:  Luke

This story was about someone named Mr. Christmas. One day Mr. Christmas got a letter from Santa saying he needs help delivering presents. He even offered to lend him a couple of reindeer! But Mr. Christmas didn’t need reindeer so he had to go see Wizard Winterbottom. Mr. Christmas told Wizard Winterbottom he needed transport. What did Wizard Winterbottom give Mr. Christmas for transport? Could Mr. Christmas deliver all the presents in time? Read this book to find out.

My favourite character was Mr. Christmas because he is funny. I liked the part when Mr. Christmas thought about how many Mr. Men there are and how they live all over the place. I liked this story because all the Mr. Men got different presents. A funny part in this book was when Mr. Small got a jelly bean and he was very happy. The illustrator draws lots of different shapes.

The lesson I learned from this story is everyone needs help sometimes.

I would recommend this book because it is funny and it has lots of different and funny characters.

This story was about Jeremiah and Amanda and they never shared anything. My favourite part was when they learned how to share. My favourite character was Jeremiah because he built a giant tower. This story reminds me of when I shared in kindergarten. A funny part was when they took off their clothes and shared them because the teacher said to share. Look in the book to see if they will learn to share.

The author really put in funny sentences.  The illustrator really draws good pictures that go along with the writing.  The lesson I learned was you should always share!

I would recommend this book to kids 4 to 12 years old.  In my opinion, I like this book because it is funny when the kids fight.

                Don’t let the Pigeon Stay up Late         Reviewed by: Hanna

 This story was about a pigeon who didn’t want to go to sleep. It’s up to the reader to make sure that the pigeon will fall asleep before the man comes back. Read the book to find out if you can put the pigeon to sleep.

My favourite part is when the pigeon has a tantrum because he didn’t yawn. My favourite character was of course the pigeon because he has very weird tantrums. This story reminds me of when I didn’t want to go to sleep. I like this story because when I look at the pigeon his excretions are really good. 

The author really put beautiful pictures in the book. The lesson I learned was that you should go to sleep if you really have to. I would recommend this book to kids 5 to 9 because I’m eight and I still like it.

 

Splat the Cat Sings Flat            Reviewed by: Ivy

This story is about a cat that forgot how to sing, hum and meow for parent’s night.  My favourite part was when Splat tried to sing and he sang flat. The story reminds me of an assembly we performed at school and I thought I would forget the lines.

I liked the story because the cat forgot to meow and a cat should know how to meow. The illustrator had funny pictures. I realized after reading this story that a person should have confidence in themselves.

I would not recommend this book because I didn’t really like it. The author really put a lot of effort. It is a not really good book for my opinion book you have to read it to find out more.

This book is about a little kid named David.  His mom always says, “No, David” because David does not listen.  My favourite part was when he made a big mess on the floor and his mom got angry and said, “NO, David NO!’’ 

In this story, David got mud all over the floor so he had to take a bath.  There are many funny parts in this story.  Read this story if you want to laugh your head off.

The illustrator really put funny pictures in this book. The two messages in this book are to be polite and to stay clean.  I would recommend this book to anyone who likes funny stories.

This story is about a guy who enters a sandcastle contest. His name is Matthew. He builds a sandcastle that looks like a real house. The judges thought it was a real house. Will Matthew be able to win the contest?

I like this book because I like it when Matthew builds a castle that looks real. This story reminds me of when I build sandcastles at the beach.

The author really put detail in his writing. I like how the illustrator drew the pictures of the house.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to build sandcastles at the beach.

This was a good book about a girl named Mean Jean who always gets it her way. One day, a new girl came to school. Her name is Katie Sue. At the end, Jean makes friends with everyone. You will have to read the book to find out how Jean becomes friends with the other kids.

The author really made some cool action words. The illustrator also gave the characters lots of emotion on their faces. The message in this book was not to be so bossy. The story tells you that you will not always get it your way. My favourite character is Katie Sue because she is active and always very happy.

I would recommend this book to anyone any age because it teaches you not to be a bully. The story really is teaching you a lesson.

 

       The Berenstain Bears: Down on the Farm      Reviewed by: Gloria

The Bear family is on their way to Farmer Ben’s farm. They watch Farmer Ben feed his cattle and his wife, Mrs. Ben, feed her flock. They see the rooster causing a commotion. The Bens’ farm is one hundred acres long. The large farm grows beans, wheat, peas and corn and many other veggies. Their sheepdog, Mr. Ben’s jeep, his scarecrow and farm machines help Farmer Ben do his work. Read on to find out what happens when Brother Bear tries to milk the cow and when the cubs ask questions about farming.

My favourite part was when Brother Bear tried to milk the cow.  My favourite character was also Brother Bear because he is very curious.

I would recommend this book to young readers who like visiting farms and pumpkin patches.

My favorite part was when Sid the bully got shrunk by the ants. This story reminds me of another story called The Amazing Shrinking Kid. The illustrator drew really good pictures. My favourite character is Lucas. The author’s lesson is you should not bully people.

This story was about bullying. I liked this story because it has a good lesson. In my opinion, I think that every library should have this book.

 

Scooby-Doo and the Abominable Snowman

This book is about a snow monster.  The Scooby Doo gang thought he stole their skates. You will have to read this story to find out if the snow monster stole the skates.

The funny part in this story was when Shaggy jumped into Scooby Doo’s arms. The author really put good messages in this story and the illustrator put good details in the drawings.

My connection to this book is I also like snow and Checkers.

I would recommend this book to everyone because it has an important message. The message is you don’t lose your stuff if you are organized.

 

Scooby Doo! Snow Ghost       Reviewed by: Marc

This story was about Scooby and the gang building a snowman.  Something took their stuff.  You will have to read this book to find out what happened to the Scooby Doo gang’s stuff.

My favourite character was Scooby.  I like the part when they made a snow ghost.  This story reminds me of the TV show.  I like this story because of the Scooby-Doo cartoon.  A funny part in this book was when the gang went on a sled down the hill.  A suspenseful part in the book was when Scooby-Doo found out that the birds had their stuff.

The author really made an exciting book and the illustrator was a very good drawer.  The lesson I learned from this story is do not leave your stuff by itself unattended.  The message in this book was to not jump to conclusions until you have all the information.  I realized after reading this story I thought that it was a good book.

I would recommend this book because Scooby-Doo is a funny character.  In my opinion I think you should read this book if you like Scooby-Doo. You will have to read this book to find out for yourself.

This story was about a little girl named Hailey who wanted to be part of a book.

After the author wrote her into the book, she decided she did not want to be stuck in a book.

Read the story to find out how Hailey got out of the book.

My favourite part was when Hailey yelled,” I want to go home.” The author is really funny.

The lesson from this story is sometimes your friends can help you when you are stuck.

I think other kids should read this book because it is funny and interesting.

This book is about a hamster named Nugget that wants to give her friends a special gift. When she brings the gifts in a shopping bag, all of the gifts started flying in the air! Her friends came dashing to help Nugget catch the flying objects. Each of the friends caught one of the gifts. To figure out whose gift is whose, they played a guessing game.  Read the book to find out what the gift was.

My favourite characters were Nugget, Pipsqueak, and Chunk. The story made me think about when I played with my Zhu Zhu pets. The lesson is having fun with your friends. My favourite part was when Scoodles dashed to get in the picture before the timer counted down. Flash!

I would recommend this book to anybody who has not read it. It has a lot of ideas for gifts in the story.    

 One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish

I like this book because there are lots of creatures like Clark. This story had many different stories in it. My favourite part was when the kids found a monster in the park in the dark. A funny part in the story was when the boy boxed his Gox. 

This story reminds me of fishing when my family goes camping. I caught two fish when we were camping when I was 8 years old.

The lesson I learned was funny things are everywhere. I would recommend this book to younger kids because it is funny.

The Berenstain Bears: Down on the Farm    Reviewed by: Aaron M.

This story is about a bear family that went to help a farmer named Ben. The family helps Ben with all the farming tasks. Read the story to find out a really funny part. 

My favourite part was when Brother milked the cow. My favourite character was Brother because he is funny in all series of the Berenstain Bears.

I liked the part when Farmer Ben is sitting on a porch because it is relaxing to sit on one.  The author really put detail in this book.

If you like funny things, you should read this book.  I would recommend this book to kids five and older.

Driving Buddies          Reviewed by: Justin

This story is about a car that drives into a small town and goes to the race. This story has some funny parts.  The author really put a lot of detail and put a lot of hard work into this story.  At the end of the story something exciting happens.  You must read this book to find out.

My favourite character is McQueen because he is a cool race car. This story reminds me of when my dad used to be a race car driver.

I would recommend this book to some buddies because it is easy and a fun book to read.

This story was about Meat-eaters and Veggiesauruses going against each other in a hockey game. Meat-eater fans and Veggiesaurus fans go wild when T-Rex and Triceratops faceoff! Raptor gets an assist and T-Rex gets his first goal! Then Triceratops gets a goal to tie the game at 1-1. You will have to read the rest of this book to find out who wins the cup!

My favourite part of the story is when T-Rex scored a goal.  I also liked that this book is a play-by-play book, too! My favourite character in the book is Raptor because he is fast and gets an assist.

I would recommend this book to everyone who likes dinosaurs playing an action packed hockey game! The author really made the book fun to read.  I would rate this book four and a half out of five stars because it had cool pictures and not too much writing.

 

Have I Got a Book for You!       Reviewed by:  Blake

        This book is about a salesman named Mr. Al Foxword who wants to sell a book to the reader.  He tries to sell the book using lots of salesman tricks.  I think the best trick is Al throwing in a free book mark that says, “Reading is swell!” I like this book because it has many creative and funny ideas on how to sell any item.

         The author really put in some descriptive words like the Ice box 2000 and transformation.  The cartoon illustrations are really funny.  Al’s face has many expressions that change with his feelings.  I learned Al never gives up when he is selling something.  To be a salesman you have to be persistent.

         I would recommend this book because it is really funny and the main character Al has lots of expressions.  Also the end has a funny surprise!!

This story is about a pig that wants a party and the adventures she has along the way.  If you would like to find out if the pig gets her dream party after all, read this amazing book to find out!

My favourite part of this story was when the pig decided to have a pillow fight with her friends.  I liked this story because it’s funny! J  A funny part in this book was when the animals took a bath in the sink. The author really made reading fun! The illustrator used fun and exciting colours. I learned to never give a pig a party if you like to get things done.

I would recommend this book to a friend because if you love pigs, humour and parties this is the book for you! This book is for boys and girls of all ages, even grandparents!

This story was about Andrew’s mother and father who were going to grandma’s house.  Andrew’s mother and father asked Andrew, “Do you have to go pee?” Andrew said, “No” and Andrew decided never to go pee again. When Andrew was in the car one minute passed and he yelled, “I have to go pee!” So his mom stopped the car and his dad said, “Andrew go pee under this tree bush.” So they got to grandma’s house and Andrew wanted to go outside to play. So his grandma and grandpa and mother and father said, “Andrew do you have to go pee?” Andrew said, “No.”  So Andrew went outside to play and Andrew threw only one snowball and then he yelled, “I have to go pee!” So his dad took off Andrew’s snowsuit and went to the bathroom. After dinner it was time for Andrew to go to bed. So Andrew went to sleep. After a while Andrew said, “I wet my bed.” So Andrew’s grandma and grandpa and mother and father all changed his clothes and bed. You will have to read the book to find out how the rest of this story ends.                                                 

My favourite character is Andrew because he is a funny boy. I liked the part when he said, “I decided never to go pee again. I liked this story because Andrew is a naughty boy. He never listens to his parents.  A funny part in this story was when Andrew threw only one snowball and he yelled, “I have to go pee!”

The author told us that when you need to go pee you better go.  The lesson I learned from this story is that do not hold your pee when you need to go to the washroom.

I would recommend this book because it is a funny book and it tells you a big lesson.
