As such, Sauder can be quite competitive to get into (GPA = High 80%…but the average GPA is usually around 92%).
Any students wishing to apply for Sauder should make sure to combine their Academic Courses with theirExtracurricular (Clubs, Councils, Volunteer Work, Sports, Etc.), as students will be required to complete a “BCom Personal Profile” with their General Application.
The BCom Personal Profile plays a significant role in our admissions decisions so ensure that you take care in completing it and try to make us say “WOW!” when we read yours.
Here are some Tips to completing the BCom Personal Profile:
- This is your opportunity to tell us about yourself
- Tell us about some of your more significant extracurricular activities
- Focus your attention on what you learned as a result of your experiences rather then what the experiences were
- Keep in mind that the factors considered in the evaluation of your application include:
- Academic performance
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Communication skills
- Goal-setting and problem solving skills
- Community contributions
- Teamwork
Courses you should/need to take while in Grade 11/12
- English 12 (this is a requirement for Graduation and applying to Sauder)
- Math Principles 12/Pre-Calculus 12 (this is a requirement in applying to Sauder)
- Calculus 12/AP Calculus
- HIGHLY recommended as you will be required to take Calculus in First Year, and if you’ve never taken it before, you will struggle
- AP Macroeconomics
- You will be required to take Macroeconomics in First Year, and will benefit from taking this course
- AP Microeconomics
- You will be required to take Microeconomics in First Year, and will benefit from taking this course
- Economics 12 (if you do not take AP Macro/Micro)
- You will be required to take Macroeconomics & Microeconomics in First Year, and will benefit from taking this course
- AP Statistics
- You will be required to do take Statistics within the program, and will benefit from taking this course
- Financial Accounting 12
- HIGHLY recommended as you will be required to take Financial Accounting in First Year, and if you’ve never taken it before, you will struggle
- Marketing 11 and/or 12
- If you want to focus on anything in the Marketing realm while in the BCom program, having this course will benefit you
- Entrepreneureship 12
- If you want to focus on Marketing or Opening a Business, then having this course will benefit you
