Daily Physical Activity (DPA)

The Province of British Columbia has set requirements for Daily Physical Activity for students in Grades K-12.  Daily physical activity can be as simple as walking, running, jogging, bending or stretching

Grade 8 & 9 Requirements:
Students in Grades 8 and 9 are required to take part in 30 minutes of physical activity per day.  It is expected that students participate in daily school-based activities in blocks of at least 10 minutes at a time totalling 30 minutes per day.  Students should be participating in a range of endurance, strength, and flexibility activities

Grade 10, 11 & 12 Requirements:
Students in Grades 10 through 12 must document and report a minimum of 150 minutes per week of physical activity at a moderate to vigorous intensity (that means you have to be sweating!) as part of their Graduation Transitions program.

Students may choose how they will meet the DPA requirements at school, at home, and/or in the community.  Students should demonstrate the knowledge, attitudes, and positive habits needed to be healthy individuals, responsible for their own physical and emotional well-being

  • Grade 10 Students will receive their 150 minutes per week through their PE 10 Course

NOTE: If you are in Grade 11 or 12, and know you WILL NOT be able to complete your required 150 minutes per week of physical activity, you can complete this by enrolling in one of the following courses:

•  Physical Education 11 or 12
•  Weight Training 11 or 12
•  Physical Education Fitness 11 or 12
•  Dance 11 or 12
