Application Process

Applicants should apply as early in the application processing period as possible

  • So Grade 12’s should be applying NOW
  • This is due to some programs having waitlists, and as soon as a student applies, they get placed on the Program Wait List

Current high-school students can get their name on the wait-list early (while still in grades 11 or 12) by writing and successfully completing the BCIT trades pre-test

  1.  Attend an info session to find out what program is looking for in an applicant
  2. Aim to exceed the minimum academic requirements. Achieving slightly higher grades in one or two required subjects or taking additional related courses can enhance an application
  3. Include a resumé listing volunteer or work experience with his or her application
  4. In his or her letter of intent, report any career and industry research undertaken. Showing knowledge of a chosen field or area of study can enhance an application
BCIT DOES NOT use the “Apply BC” website (the one that majority of other BC Post-Secondary Institutions use), but they use their own: https://secure.bcit.ca/sis/apply/
