Youthspace a safe, inclusive and welcoming space for all youth to chat in, no matter what your background, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, lifestyle or culture. Youthspace.ca is made up of a community of volunteers who are trained in emotional support, crisis response, and ASIST Suicide First Aid. They are open every day from 6:00 pm to midnight Pacific Standard Time and all chats are anonymous.

Short Term, Assessment, Response, Treatment (START)
The Short Term, Assessment, Response, Treatment (START) Team provides confidential mental health crisis intervention services for children and teens. Youth, families, schools and medical professionals can directly access their services by contacting the START Team at 1-844-START11 (1-844-782-7811). Hours of operation are Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and weekends and holidays noon to 9 p.m.

Ministry of Education website that offers resources on bullying, as well as an online tool for students to report bullying.

Odyssey:  Substance Abuse Services for Youth and Families
Offering counselling programs for youth and families struggling with issues related to substance abuse.  Youth can take part in the wide range of services including individual and family counselling, drop-in, social-recreational activities, crisis intervention referrals, and substance abuse education.

Burnaby Youth Clinic
Burnaby Youth Clinic provides free, confidential information and education regarding sexuality and health to youth 21 and under. This includes:

  • birth control education & provision
  • pregnancy testing + decision making
  • STI information, examinations + treatment; and
  • HIV education + testing.

No appointments necessary.
