Gauss and Abel Mathematics Contests (May 13, 2015 )
In Burnaby, approximately 1000 students in grade 7 (or lower) participated in the national Gauss mathematics contest created at the University of Waterloo. This is an extremely challenging contest and our students performed remarkably well. To answer 20 or more out of the 25 questions correctly on the Gauss contest is a tremendous achievement. Our district had many students accomplish this feat and within this group, the highest Burnaby scores are listed below.
Also, approximately 700 Burnaby students in grade 5 (or lower) participated in the Abel contest which is created by the Burnaby School District. This is also a very challenging contest and to answer 20 or more out of the 25 questions correctly on the Abel contest is quite impressive. Our district had many students achieve this goal and those with scores of 23 or higher are provided below.
Congratulations to all participants. May the math be with you!
