Welcome back to school! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! To start the New Year off, some Intermediate classes will be learning about an old French-Canadian folktale, The Flying Canoe, in French La Chasse-galerie. They will see a National Film Board short film version and then hear two versions, one by Roch Carrier and another erroneous one by Eric Kimmel. This will be a critical thinking activity in which they will compare and contrast the three versions and will have to decide how much artistic license does an author have when adapting a traditional folktale.
