Don’t Forget VPA Diplomas and Certificates When Choosing Courses for Next Year!

Posted on January 22, 2022 by mcallisterc

Remember that selecting a course for next in the VPA is not only fabulous for you and your learning, but it also contributes towards your possibility of a VPA Diploma or Certificate.

Every year our graduating students have the opportunity to apply to receive a Visual and Performing Arts Diploma or Certificate, as an acknowledgement of their years of work within our department, in our various disciplines.

The Diploma requires that from grades 8 through 12 a student has completed 7 courses within any ARTS discipline.

The Certificate requires that from grades 8 through 12 a student has completed 5 courses within any ARTS discipline.

Please note that this is not an acknowledged specialty program, but simply a way to recognize dedicated work in an Arts field, which is a wonderful addition to a resume or post-secondary application.

A student must be able to list courses taken, and with which teacher, in the following disciplines:
Dance Performance
Yearbook
Music- Instrumental
Music- Choral
Theatre Performance
Visual Art
General Arts (mixed disciplines)

*Outside of timetable classes also apply to the program.
