BC Children’s Hospital invites teachers to nominate promising future scientists and researchers to attend the 2018 Research Open House.
The Research Open House is a free interactive morning event that offers students in grades 10-12 an opportunity to visit research labs, participate in research activities and interact with BC Children’s Hospital researchers. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, April 17 from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute (950 West 28th Avenue, Vancouver). Students must be nominated by a teacher to attend this event and cannot register themselves. Each school can nominate a maximum of 3 students to attend. Teachers are invited but are not required to attend. As this event is very popular and space is limited to 200 students, we encourage you to submit the online nomination form shortly after registration opens on Tuesday, March 6 at 3:30 p.m. Please note the Research Institute at BC Children’s Hospital is a working health care research facility. While onsite, students will be encouraged to participate in supervised research activities and should be comfortable around a variety of samples and specimens found in a clinical laboratory environment. For more information about the nomination guidelines and form, please click here. If you are interested in attending, please email laida.falsetto@burnabyschools.ca with a one paragraph response that explains why you want to attend. Online registration opens this Tuesday, March 6th. Best, LF |
