Last week was the official launch of YRCA 2015 at Seaforth. This recreational reading program was explained to all Intermediate classes and the selected books were book talked by Ms.Higgins. As a literary connection to one of the junior titles, The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate, Ms.Higgins read the picturebook, Ivan, the remarkable true story of the shopping mall gorilla. Hearing the true story has sparked an interest for many students to read the novel which won the Newbery Medal in 2013. All Intermediate students are encouraged to participate and voting will take place in April, 2015.
