Rick Riordan was in Vancouver on Thursday, May 3 to release his new book, The Serpent’s Shadow, the third book in the Kane Chronicles. His presentation was engaging, informative and humourous! He told the audience about how he became a writer and of his keen interest in Mythology. He also read the beginning chapter of The Mark of Athena, his next book in The Heroes of Olympus series. His books revolve around different mythologies and his next series will focus on Norse Mythology! I’m excited about that because I love anything to do with the Vikings! One of my favourite books that uses gods and goddesses from Norse Mythology is Eight Days of Luke by Diana Wynne-Jones. I read it years ago to a grade 6 class and for many of the students it was the highlight of their schoolyear. Rick Riordan has an excellent website which includes his blog at http://www.rickriordan.com/home.aspx
And three Seaforth students were at this gala event!
