Is your passion in DANCE, DRAMA, MUSIC, visual art, theatre, script writing, stagecraft, directing or media arts? If yes, apply for the Michael J. Fox Scholarship!
  1. AWARD CRITERIAYour letter of application must include the following information:
    • Confirmation that you are currently enrolled in a visual or performing arts course in a Burnaby secondary school.
    • Documentation to demonstrate your interest, dedication and aptitude in an arts or in multiple arts disciplines, e.g. dance, drama, music, visual art, theatre, script writing, stagecraft, directing, media arts.
    • Evidence of your financial need and an explanation of why there are no other financial resources available to you.
    • A history of your school and/or community involvement (i.e. school productions, student government, choir member, volunteer work, charity work, service clubs).
    • A copy of your secondary school transcript to demonstrate that your grades are high enough for acceptance to a post-secondary educational institution.
    • A statement that indicates your desired post-secondary Degree or Certificate in an Arts discipline and your Career Goal.

$2000 Annual CGTrader Scholarship for TECHNOLOGY – deadline is June 1, 2017

Each semester CGTrader challenges students to dig into the field of technology writing an essay on how innovative technologies are transforming our lives.

Write and submit an original essay on the topic “The future of technology in education”.

Requirements:

  • Write an essay on “The future of technology in education”
  • Essay length is 500-1000 words

KPU has scholarships available for the Fall. They are also offering Aboriginal Entrance Scholarships for $5000 as well as KPU Major Entrance Scholarships for $20,000 and $5000 for students who are taking classes for the first time at Kwantlen in Spring 2018.

The following district bursaries/scholarships are available for Burnaby Secondary School Graduates and are valued from $100-$2500. You may apply for more than one of the following scholarships as long as you meet the stated criteria.

Interworld Development Inc. Scholarship (NEW!) $1000

To be considered for the award the student must have:

  • successfully completed a Youth Train in Trades and Youth Work in Trades program in the Burnaby School District with a high level of effort, determination and integrity
  • successfully completed 120 hours industry-recognized work experience
  • demonstrated a high level of motivation to continue to develop skills and abilities in the chosen profession
  • demonstrated plans to continue in studies in the chosen field at post-secondary or apprenticeship training
  • been nominated for the award by a Youth Train in Trades or Youth Work in Trades program teacher

 

Up to $2500 David Milne Rugby scholarship: Deadline February 28th

Qualifying Criteria – To qualify for scholarship all of the following must be met:

  1. The applicant must be enrolled or have been accepted to an accredited post-secondary educational institution, and demonstrate his/her intention to pursue full time studies. “Post-secondary” includes trade school or other specialized education as determined by Committee.
  2. The applicant must be a rugby player who has played for the Burnaby Lake Rugby Club (“BCRC”) in the past or is registered to play for the BLRC in the upcoming season.
  3. Men and women are eligible to apply; there is no age criteria.
  4. The applicant must have demonstrated a commitment to the rugby community and/or the community at large through volunteer commitment and effort.

$1000 Burnaby Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship: Deadline Friday, April 14th

Eligibility requirements:

• A graduating Grade 12 student enrolled at a B.C. secondary school (public or private). Priority will be given to those attending school in Burnaby

• A resident of Burnaby for the past three years

• Future plans to attend a post-secondary institution on a full-time basis

• Show evidence of high athletic ability and performance (this could be through photos of certificates, banners, medals, trophies…)

• Maintain a minimum of a C+ average (please include copy of transcript)

• Demonstrate leadership

• Be active in school and community

You are also required to submit a short cover letter summarizing your athletic endeavours along with your post-secondary athletic and academic goals and plans.

$1000 Burnaby Rotary Club Scholarship for Community Leadership: Deadline Monday, April 3rd

This scholarship is well-suited for Byrne Creek students who are actively involved in leadership!

This scholarship is awarded annually to a well-rounded student who has demonstrated strong citizenship and leadership skills as demonstrated through voluntary participation in community and school activities. The scholarship shall be applicable towards post-secondary education or trades training at any approved institution.

In order to be eligible:

  1. A student must complete a personal application.  Application form is HERE;  or
  2. A staff member at the student’s school must submit a nomination form.

2-$2500 AES Engineering Scholarships. Deadline Friday, April 14th
