$750 Janice Lee Bursary for students with lived mental health or substance use issue: deadline to apply is May 31st

The Janice Lee Blue Wave Bursary honours the legacy of Janice Lee, an 18-year-old who struggled with depression and anxiety for six years and took her own life in 2006. The following year, Blue Wave was created by her family to help break the silence around mental illness in teens and to provide support earlier. The vision of the Janice Lee Blue Wave bursary program is to invest in the resilience, wisdom and potential of young people and to reduce some of the barriers during the major transition from high school to higher education.

The bursary is offered to students who have lived experience of a mental health or substance use issue and will be pursuing post-secondary education or training the following year. It is unique in its focus on the strength and resilience youth face, rather than an emphasis on academic success and achievements. More information can be found here: http://www.bluewavebc.ca/janice-lee-blue-wave-bursary/

In 2017, 2 bursaries of $750 each will be awarded.
