$1000 Doteasy Scholarship for passionate technology students and graphic artists: Deadline March 31st

The Doteasy Scholarship is our way to support passionate technology students, future entrepreneurs and aspiring graphic artists. Our goal is to empower students, lessen their financial burden during their future studies, and give them the resources to build an online presence that will move them towards their goals. We truly believe that having a website provides a major advantage for furthering your career goals.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Doteasy Scholarships are open to residents of Canada in their final year of high school and have an expressed interest in a field of study that would greatly benefit from owning a website (eg. Computer Science, IT, IAT, Graphic Design, Business, or Other).

WHAT ARE THE PRIZES?

Three scholarships will be awarded to students in their final year of high school. Scholarship prizes are as follows:

FIRST PLACE: $1000 FOR TUITION & 1 year domain name and hosting services for your own website

RUNNER UP: $750 FOR TUITION & 1 year domain name and hosting services for your own website

SECOND PLACE: $500 FOR TUITION & 1 year domain name and hosting services for your own website

THE ABORIGINAL ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP – $5,000

Eligibility
a) must identify as Aboriginal, First Nations, Metis or Inuit
b) 80% average in English 12 and 3 other academic Grade 12 courses, or the equivalent of a

3.67 transfer GPA on a minimum of 24 transferable university credits d) demonstrated leadership, community involvement and volunteerism

Conditions
a) registration in a minimum of 12 undergraduate credits per semester
b) required to maintain a minimum CGPA of 3.0 for the duration of the award period

$1255 KPU Scholarship for Fashion Design: Deadline March 29th

Janis Elaine Waller Endowed Memorial Fashion Design Scholarship

Janis Elaine Waller, mother of three young children and lifelong partner to her husband was a very vivacious and outgoing person who was always willing to help. Her care for others was demonstrated in her work as a high school Home Economics teacher. Janis’ goal was to encourage and help promising students pursue higher education and ultimately a career in the fashion industry.

In Janis’ memory, her family and the Burnaby School District Home Economics Department is pleased to offer an award to a Burnaby high school graduate. The student will have achieved a minimum grade of A- in Home Economics related courses (based on school documentation). The recipient will be announced at the school commencement ceremony. Funds will be applied as a tuition credit once the student has registered in one of the following programs at KPU in the Fall:

Bachelor of Design, Fashion & Technology Diploma in Fashion Design and Technology Diploma in Fashion Marketing

NOTE: first preference given to a Cariboo Hill Secondary School student, second to a student from one of the Burnaby Secondary Schools and third, to graduates of School District 41.

One award valued at $1255

2x$1000 Scholarships for students who joined their family through adoption: Deadline Monday, April 30th

The Adoptive Families Association of BC Bursary Program offers two bursaries, designed to enhance educational outcomes for BC youth. The funds are intended to assist in supporting youth during their studies including but not limited to: costs of tuition, costs directly and indirectly related to post-secondary.

The Howard Legacy Youth Fund was launched in 2014, with a donation from Peggy Howard, and is made available to applicants who are current or former youth in care.

The AFABC Youth Bursary was launched in 2015, with funding from the Adoptive Families Association of BC, and accepts applications from youth who have joined their family by legal adoption.

2x$1000 Scholarships for students in the Health Sciences field, Trade school or Business: Deadline Tuesday, April 10th

Community Mental Wellness Association of Canada is proud to announce the launch of two (2) x $1,000 bursaries to Grade 12 students going into fulltime studies in the Health Sciences field in Post Secondary, Trade school or Business colleges.

The following criteria are to be considered when completing the application.

  • Students must be graduating from Grade 12.
  • A copy of the latest report card is required.
  • The student must have a strong interest and be going into the Health Sciences field such as Medicine, Nursing, Social Work, Mental Health, Counselling in the Mental Health arena
  • Include a resume of school/community participation in Health-related activities and volunteering.
  • Provide a letter from their school counsellor that reflects how the applicant models socially responsible behaviour.
  • Consideration will be given to students who may suffer from financial hardship.
  • The winners will be required to come to a presentation of the bursary at a fundraising event.

The application form (attached) will be available online on our website: www.cmwac.ca or can be submitted by mail or fax.

Details on the application include:

  • The essay should contain 500-700 words. Entries may be typed.
  • The topic will be “Is There a Connection between Mental Health and Peer Pressure? OR b) What is Mental Health?
  • A paragraph about their hobbies, social activities and volunteer opportunities.

Bev Hosker Motivational Award

The Bev Hosker Motivational Award will honour a parent or guardian who is a member of a BCCPAC member parent advisory council (PAC) or district parent advisory council (DPAC) and new or newly involved parent taking on a leadership role in their PAC or DPAC.

The George Matthews Award honours a parent or guardian who has been an exemplary leader,  not only in the education of his or her own children, but also in leading others to have a significant impact on the ability of parents to exercise leadership in public education.

BCCPAC Lifetime Member Award (Past Presidents)

The BCCPAC Lifetime Member Award honours an individual who has served as President of BCCPAC, and whose contribution is considered to have been innovative and of significant lasting importance for furthering the inclusion and support of parents in BC’s public education system and the improvement of education for children in BC

BCCPAC Lifetime Member Award for Individual Contribution
Deadline to submit is  February 28th

The BCCPAC Lifetime Member award for individuals honours a person who has been actively involved in BCCPAC for a minimum of five years, has served at least one year on the BCCPAC Board of Directors or has served in some other equivalent capacity. This person cannot be currently serving on the BCCPAC Board of Directors, and has been recommended for a Life Membership by at least six BCCPAC members in good standing.

DPAC Outstanding Parent Involvement Award 
Deadline to submit is April 15th 

We are happy to announce that we are accepting applications to honour Parent involvement in their School Districts. The recipient for your district should be selected on the basis of dynamic and exemplary leadership and inspirational practices that have had a major, identifiable impact on parent interest and participation in public education at the PAC or DPAC levels. More information about the DPAC Outstanding Parent Involvement Award can be found here.   

All awards will be given out at our AWARDS GALA EVENING. This will be a celebration of parent involvement in Education and take place during the AGM weekend on Saturday evening in the ballroom. Not only will we take the opportunity to recognize some exceptional volunteer parents, it will be an opportunity to mingle and make new acquaintances.

Remember! The BCCPAC Spring Conference is on Friday May 4th and AGM is Saturday May 5th and Sunday May 6th, 2017. We hope you will be able to join us at the Pacific Gateway Hotel in Richmond.

$1000 BCCPAC Award for a well-rounded student who is has an understanding of the importance of parent involvement in education: Deadline Wednesday, February 28th

 

The BCCPAC Educational Award is granted annually to a well-rounded student in Grade 12 who is involved and interested in many things and has an understanding of the importance of parent involvement in education. The student must be from a school that has a PAC that is a member of BCCPAC. The following must be submitted:

  1. Complete the 2018 Education Award Application showing specific plans as to immediate future academic, technical, or vocational education or training studies.
  2. Prepare a 300 to 500 word essay, on the value of parent involvement in education, with reference to Parent Advisory Councils (PACs), District Parent Advisory Councils (DPACs), and/or BCCPAC.
  3. Include a cover letter with information about interests and evidence of good citizenship, leadership, sportsmanship, and community service.
  4. Include two letters of reference: one from an educator, and one from a community member, but not a relative of the applicant. The references should comment on the applicant’s good citizenship, leadership, sportsmanship, and community service.
  5. Provide copies of Grade 11 and Grade 12 report cards or transcripts to date.

Important:  Children of current BCCPAC board members, staff, or contractors are not eligible to apply for this award.

This provincial award is in the amount $1000.

Completed applications must be received by the BCCPAC office by February 28th each year.

$1500 CG Studio Scholarship for students with an interest in the 3D industry: Deadline Wednesday, April 16th

CGStudio, a leading online marketplace for 3D models, has established a scholarship program to help support talented students with an interest in the 3D industry. The topic for our first scholarship is: “Influential and Inspirational Digital Artists.” Digital art and computer graphics have revolutionized how we interact with the world, from our entertainment to our education and many points in between. We want to hear about how a digital art creator has influenced you.
Write an essay about an animator, video game designer, or other person in the digital art field whom you admire. Explain why you admire them and/or how their accomplishments shaped their industry. We want to hear from the future artists (or fans) of our industry – let us know who has positively influenced your life.
