More Harry Potter

I have to admit, I am a big fan.  My oldest received The Philosopher’s Stone for his birthday when it was still pretty new, 20 years ago now(!).  I picked it up a few weeks later and was hooked.  I feel really lucky as I got to follow the story along with my kids.  Each new book’s release was looked forward to and then shared as we read them aloud Read More …

Comfort Reading – Harry Potter, anyone?

Often when I’m feeling tired or stressed or worried, I want comfort reading (less calories than comfort food!).  This is usually something fairly light and entertaining that I have read before.  I can enjoy it without having to focus too hard.  This morning I discovered that Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone has been made freely available in the eBook format through Library to Go (the Libby app) from BPL.  Read More …

Good Morning at Home

Hi all, I hope everyone had a good Spring Break.  While it never got particularly warm, the sun shone, and we were able to get out for walks around our neighbourhood.  I had plenty of time to knit, sew, bake, and of course, read!  Actually, for me, a dream vacation.  It was also wonderful to make use of technology and visit family and friends via video. So now we are Read More …

Life-long Learning

When I was in grade 11, I took a course called Lifetime Sports.  We went running and did square dancing, all the usual, but we also went skating, curled, played raquetball, tennis and golf.  The hope was we’d find activities that we’d take with us and maybe learn more about once we finished compulsory physical education.  I know you are all really busy with your school work and even finding Read More …
