In time for the Christmas break, the library has lots of great new books. Are you a Sherlock Holmes fan? Already read the originals, watched Sherlock (but eagerly waiting for the upcoming Victorian-era special) and Elementary? Need a new fix?
Try ‘Lock and Mori’ by Heather W. Petty. This present-day version has Miss James Moriarty (yes, it’s a family name) teaming up with classmate Sherlock Holmes to solve the case of one (actually 4) murders in London’s Regent Park, the victims of which appear to be connected to Mori’s mother.
For a very different take on Holmes, try ‘Jackaby’ by William Ritter. This series takes place in New England at exactly the time that Sherlock Holmes is alive and detecting in London. R.F. Jackaby is an investigator of the unexplained and his Watson is a young woman from England, Abigail Rook, who answers this ad:
ASSISTANT WANTED: Must be literature and possess a keen intellect and open mind. Strong stomach preferred.
The Jackaby books have a little bit of fantasy and the supernatural thrown in.
