Monday was National School Library Day. We are very lucky in Burnaby. We have a District that supports libraries with certified Teacher-Librarians and funding for resources. So, thank you to our Trustees and our District staff who continue to provide all of us with this wonderful resource.
Monday was therefore the day that the new Mountain Reads books were revealed. This year we have 11 titles.
Maybe I shouldn’t share my favourite already, but I have to tell you that I love The Martian. I opened the book and I couldn’t put it down. It’s science fiction, but really not too far from reality. And all the science the main character uses to survive on Mars is real science. Such a great story! So when the movie came out this month, I dragged my family to see it right away. It’s really good, too. Two thumbs up!
The other books are great reads as well. I’ve tried to provide something for most everyone, across grades and across interests. So come and check them out. I hope you enjoy them. For a list and information about each of them, please see the Mountain Reads 2015/16 page.
