Hi Montecito Readers!

I hope you all are well and that your families are safe and healthy!  I miss seeing you at school and particularly, in the library!

Each week, I will be reading a book for you to watch and read with me!  This week, we will be reading Kevin Henkes' beautiful book about our new season.  It's called When Spring Comes.  The illustrator, Laura Dronzek uses acrylic paints to show us the colours and textures of spring - in the blossoms, flowers and the newly born animal babies' fur.  It's a lovely story and the pictures are gorgeous!

author-ericwaltersEric Walters is coming to our library on Wednesday October 21!  He will be chatting with our intermediate students about his novels, being an author, and the joy of writing.  His schedule is as follows:

grade 4-5       9:15 - 10:15

grade 6-7     11:00 - 12:00

Eric is a Canadian author who has written over 80 novels.  He is currently promoting his novel, "Between Heaven and Earth", the first in the Seven Series.  Each novel in the series is written by a different author.  Five of the seven authors will be giving a joint author presentation on Wednesday October 21 at Burnaby Central from 7:00 - 9:00 pm.  Guests may purchase books and have their books signed at this event.  Visiting authors include Richard Scrimger, Ted Staunton, John Wilson, Shane Peacock and Eric Walters.

Buddy classes are coming to the library in the next couple of weeks to read a special holiday story with Ms. Lloyd and then we'll compare it to the video.

A reminder to all students to return their books to the library.  

Ms. Cole's class won the Christmas party by having ALL of their books back first!  Way to go grade 5/6's!  We will be rockin' 'round the tree together next week!
