Math Contests in Burnaby
Elementary
Burnaby schools participate in the CEMC math contest, the Gauss, in mid-May of each year. Details of the Gauss are found here. The Gauss is open to students in Gr 7 or below. The contest is set up and run at each school. **Spring 2020: CEMC will decide if the Gauss is to go ahead by mid-late April.
We also have our two own local math contests: for Grade 6 (and below) students we hold the Mirzakhani Math Contest; and for Grade 5 (and below) students, the Abel. Details of each of these contests can be found in the drop down menu above.
Burnaby also runs its own STEM Video Contest each spring, again, details in the drop down menu.
Secondary
Burnaby secondary school students have the opportunity to participate in the CEMC math contests and a variety of other contests as determined by the local school’s math department. Contact your student’s math teacher for further info. Please note, the April 2020 CEMC contests are postponed for the moment.
