May is Asian Heritage Month and in Canada specifically, acknowledging this month allows us to learn about the many Canadians of Asian descent that contribute to our country. In our school library, we have a large selection of books by Asian authors and about the many countries, cultures and people that make up this massive continent! Here is a collection of some of these books and additional online resources. The Burnaby Public Library also has a number of book lists from Asian voices.
This year, the theme in Canada is “Recognition, Resilience, and Resolve” emphasizing the importance of Asian people in our society and discouraging racism and discrimination. Here are some local online events through ExploreAsian, Asian-Canadian interviews through CBC and additional information about Asian Heritage Month from brainninjas.ca.
