We have many exciting opportunities to offer the students at your school this year, both virtually and on-campus. Please help us share the following events with any of your students who might be interested in learning how they can change the world and make a positive impact as future engineers!

UBC Engineering Open House

Learn more about studying at one of Canada’s top engineering schools! We are offering both an online and on-campus event at both the Okanagan and Vancouver campuses so that students have a variety of ways to connect with us.

Online Open House: October 12-14, 2023

 

Thursday, October 12, 6:00-8:00 pm PT

Friday, October 13, 4:00-6:30 pm PT

Saturday, October 14, 9:00-11:00am PT

The online UBC Engineering Open House will provide research spotlights and presentations about admissions, Co-op and the student experience. Students will get the best experience by attending all three days, though it is not required. Recordings will also be available to registrants after the event concludes. All of our engineering programs from both campuses will have virtual booths that are available for drop-in Q&A on October 13. You can find the full schedule on our website.

The On-campus UBC Engineering Open House will provide an opportunity for students to visit either the Vancouver or Okanagan campus to interact with our Professors, advisors and student teams while also exploring our amazing campuses.

Grades: 8 to 12

Our online presentations are a great way for students to connect with us and learn more about UBC Engineering at both the Vancouver and Okanagan campus.

Engineering Design Competition x Parent Info Session

October 21, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

Grades: 7 to 12

In partnership with BGC Engineering, UBC Geering Up is proud to host an Engineering Design Challenge to explore your students’ creative and critical thinking skills! Students will work in teams to develop innovative solutions to the challenge and have it evaluated by a panel of judges. We will conclude this event with a Parent Info Session where we will have a representative from UBC’s Faculty of Applied Science to answer questions on pathways to UBC Engineering!

Engineering x Arts: Charting Creativity

 

November 18, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Grades: 9 to 12

At the Engineering x Arts event, there will be various “Arts Hubs” that will study how a particular artistic endeavour is strengthened by engineering principles. With mentors coming from an arts, engineering or a mixed background, students will get to tinker, create or make a micro-art project based on the Arts Hub they choose!

Global Goals x STEM: Call to Ideate

December 2, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Grades: 7 to 10

Students will engage with one UN Sustainable Development Goal to understand the complexities that exist in addressing the issue. With the help of mentors, they will then have the opportunity to ideate or create a STEM-driven solution to achieve that goal.

Women in Engineering Student Panel

October 12, 7:30 pm PT

The Women in Engineering Student Panel at the Online UBC Engineering Open House invites girls and gender non-conforming students in Grades 10-12 to hear from a panel of women students about their educational and professional experiences in engineering. High school students will get to have their questions answered in a supportive and engaging environment. Students should register for the Online UBC Engineering Open House to attend.

All-Girls* Events provide opportunities for girls across BC to explore how they can use their creativity to help the world. Attendees will learn about engineering design and will enjoy fun, hands-on activities and meet inspiring mentors including current engineering students and professionals. These events are free of charge with lunch included.

*Please note that we have an inclusive view of the word “girl” and we welcome trans, gender queer, and non-binary folks interested in these events
