ATTN Gr. 8-12 students: STEM Workshops at SFU

Do you ever wonder…
What should I study in university? What are my career options if I’m interested in STEM? What is university like?
If you are a Grade 8-12 student and these questions are on your mind, then perhaps this is the right event for you! The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Speaker Series provides secondary school students with the opportunity to meet and interact with university students, faculty members, and/or working professionals in STEM fields. For our April talk, our speaker will shed light on their role as a software engineer and a developer advocate. The latter role involves actively helping developers succeed in using a platform or technology through sharing knowledge and providing technical feedback to product design. Hour++ of Code – May/June 2023

The Hour++ of Code event features various one-off workshops for school-age students to learn how to code and implement popular digital tools. Between May to June 2023, we will be offering multiple online workshops on various topics ranging from user interface and experience design, programming foundations in Python and Java, mobile app development, game development, and many more! Please review the workshop overview and requirements for each workshop before registering!

Dates and times: Tuesdays (4:30-6:30 pm), Thursdays (4:30-6:30 pm), and Saturdays (10am-12pm and 1-3 pm) between May-June 2023
Delivery: Online via Zoom
Grade: 7-12, varies by workshops
