Burnaby Village Museum is looking for volunteers during spring break.

March 19-13 (5 days) and March 26-29 (4 days).

The spring break camps are a mix of arts and crafts and history visits.

Work experience students work from 8:30-4:30 (they stay to help with the “After Camp” program)

Regular volunteers (not doing it for work experience program) work from 8:30-3:30

Lunches are provided

We are looking for volunteers who will help lead games, interact with the children, assist the staff, help motivate and encourage the campers.

Burnaby Public Library is offering Reading Buddies at our McGill branch (4595 Albert Street) Tuesdays, February 6 – March 6, 2018 from 4 – 5:30pm. We would appreciate if you could share this opportunity with your students.

Reading Buddies is a program where teens and children are paired up for one-on-one reading in a safe, fun and friendly environment. The goals of this program are to provide children with extra reading practice and to provide teens with leadership skills and an opportunity to engage with community. Teens are expected to attend all five session.

Interested teens should submit their applications by the Tuesday, January 26, 2018 deadline to any Burnaby Public Library information desk. Application forms are attached. Successful applicants will be invited to attend an interview at the McGill branch. Interviews will take place Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 4 – 6pm and Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 4 – 6pm.

Successful applicants are expected to attend a mandatory training Tuesday, January 30 from 4 – 6pm at the McGill branch.

GRADE 11 AND GRADE 12 – ROTARY CLUB OF BURNABY METROTOWN:

The Rotary Club of Burnaby Metrotown is sponsoring 1 student to travel to Ottawa for the Adventures in Citizenship program (April 29 – May 2, 2018).

The successful candidate will go on an all-expense paid trip of a life-time and learn about Canadian politics and meet adventurers from all across Canada.

GRADE 10, 11 AND GRADE 12 – ROTARY CLUB OF BURNABY METROTOWN:

The Rotary Club of Burnaby Metrotown is sponsoring 5 students for RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) over the Easter Long Weekend.

The successful candidates will go on an all-expense paid camping adventure to Camp Elphinstone with other teens from all over BC.
