It was a joyful mix of books and Red Leafs spirit\u2014an unforgettable morning for our students!<\/p>\n<p>Instead of skates and sticks, the SFU players brought <strong data-start=\"438\" data-end=\"470\">picture books and big smiles<\/strong>. Classes gathered in the library, where each athlete chose a favorite children\u2019s book to share.\u00a0The players talked about how reading helps them stay focused, learn new strategies, and succeed both on and off the rink. Their visit showed our students that <strong data-start=\"918\" data-end=\"974\">strong minds are just as important as strong muscles<\/strong>. Many kids were thrilled to discover that even college athletes love storytime!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-879\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/stoney-library\/files\/2025\/12\/20251203_093536.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/stoney-library\/files\/2025\/12\/20251203_093536.jpg 640w, https:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/stoney-library\/files\/2025\/12\/20251203_093536-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/stoney-library\/files\/2025\/12\/20251203_093536-360x203.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After the read-aloud sessions, students asked fantastic questions:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1158\" data-end=\"1280\">\n<li data-start=\"1158\" data-end=\"1192\"><em data-start=\"1160\" data-end=\"1190\">\u201cWhat\u2019s your favorite book?\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1193\" data-end=\"1227\"><em data-start=\"1195\" data-end=\"1225\">\u201cHow often do you practice?\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1228\" data-end=\"1280\"><em data-start=\"1230\" data-end=\"1278\">\u201cWhy did you decide to play hockey over any other sport?\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The players answered thoughtfully and shared motivating messages about setting goals, practicing hard, and keeping up with schoolwork.<\/p>\n<p>We are grateful to the SFU hockey team for making time to connect with our young readers.
