Shortlisted direct pool candidates are notified in December.<\/p>\n<p><strong>There are two ways to apply for the Loran Award, with different deadlines.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A sponsored application is one that is nominated by the school.\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>October 17th (8pm Eastern Time)<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>A direct pool application is one that is submitted without school sponsorship.
