Asking questions about the characters, the problem\/solution in the story and what they think will happen next, helps to open doors for new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.speechandlanguagekids.com\/5-tasks-to-improve-your-childs-reading-comprehension\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">conversations and literacy connections<\/a> .<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><b>Word Recognition:\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Word recognition allows the reader to perceive a word based on a familiar grouping of letters. Sight words can be regular and decodable or irregular.
