Cherry, illustrated by Vashti Harrison.This book is about a girl and her dad and their love for each other. It&#8217;s also about self-confidence &#8211; feeling good about yourself, trying your best, and not giving up. It&#8217;s also about HAIR!<\/p>\n<p>From the author,\u00a0 Matthew A. Cherry&#8217;s website: &#8220;This story was born out of seeing a lack of representation in mainstream animated projects, and also wanting to promote hair love amongst young men and women of color. It is our hope that this project will inspire.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This book was made into a 7 minute film that won the 2020 Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film.<\/p>\n<p>Below, I&#8217;ve included both a read aloud as well as the short movie from YouTube.
