Scholarship Presentation September 2016


The University of Toronto is pleased to invite your school to nominate one outstanding student for the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship.

The Pearson Scholarships will provide an unparalleled opportunity for globally minded students to obtain a world-class education and join a diverse student body in one of the world’s most multicultural cities. The scholarships offer international students the opportunity to take part in enhanced academic and co-curricular experiences as part of a close-knit, fully supported community. Pearson Scholars will receive full funding for four years of tuition, books and living costs, and gain a global perspective on issues that matter most to them.

Your nominee should be a creative thinker with an exceptional academic record who is recognized as a leader within their school and exhibits potential to contribute positively to the global community in the future. The candidate must intend to begin university study in September, 2018 and must be currently enrolled in full-time academic studies or have graduated no earlier than June 2017.

If you are interested in the award, please carefully read the criteria at You need to be a grade 12 student with interest in attending the University of Toronto. Please ensure that your student profile is on file with Ms. Martens in Room 104 and email me ( to tell me you would like to be nominated. The school scholarship committee will then select one interested student to put forward.

RE/MAX of Western Canada has renewed the Quest for Excellence bursary program. This year we are once again offering (16) $1,000 bursaries for a total of $16,000 to grade 12 students.    

This program was established by RE/MAX of Western Canada to recognize the success and ongoing pursuits of Western Canadian students in regards to leadership and community contribution initiatives. Students can enter online at

2018 Quest for Excellence program is open for submissions from September 11, 2017 until midnight March 12, 2018. Only online entries will be accepted.

Renewable for up to four years, with a total value of $100,000, each Loran Award includes:

  • An annual stipend of $10,000
  • A matching tuition waiver from one of 25 partner universities
  • Personal mentorship from a Canadian leader
  • Access to our network and up to $10,000 in funding for summer internships in three different sectors
  • An orientation expedition through Algonquin Park
  • Annual retreats and scholar gatherings

We also grant approximately 104 finalist and provincial awards to promising candidates who are not selected as Loran Scholars.

Burnaby Mountain is able to sponsor three candidates for the Loran Scholarship, and any additional candidates are able to apply through direct pool. If you would like to be considered as a school sponsored Loran Scholar, please give your completed application to Ms. Martens by Monday October 2nd at 10:00 a.m. Late applications will NOT be considered for school sponsorship. AES Scholarship Deadline Is Approaching

The deadline for the 12th annual AES Scholarship is October 6, 2017.
