I often have people come and ask me if I “can recommend a good book”.\u00a0 Wow.\u00a0 That is a really tricky one.\u00a0 I can recommend many good books – or at least books that I think are good.\u00a0 That I have enjoyed.\u00a0 With the kind of story I like.\u00a0 But that’s where it gets tricky.\u00a0 Because the type of story I most enjoy might not be what you enjoy.\u00a0 And I probably won’t be able to personally recommend many other kinds of story because they are definitely not what I enjoy.\u00a0 This is where we can talk about genre<\/strong>.\u00a0 Genre is a type: romance, mystery, science fiction, fantasy, and so on.\u00a0 Many books are a blending of more than one genre, but usually, one is predominant.\u00a0 Learn more here<\/a> and here<\/a>.
\nThis year, for Mountain Reads, instead of focusing on a few books, we will look at a different genre each month.\u00a0 To start, for October, fantasy books<\/strong> will be highlighted.\u00a0 But do not fear!\u00a0 These are not all ‘princess rescued from a dragon by a handsome prince’ stories.\u00a0 Within the genre of fantasy, there are many sub-genres; you should be able to find at least one that will grab your interest.\u00a0 Come to the LLC to learn more about the fantasy genre and to find a book in a sub-genre<\/a> you are already familiar with or to try something completely new!
