April is National Poetry Month in Canada.\u00a0 This year, the chosen theme is Resilience.\u00a0 The past year has been a challenge for all of us.\u00a0 Yet here we are, continuing to get up every day, come to school, work and learn, and find ways to spend time with our friends and loved ones.\u00a0 Yes, we have been (maybe learned to be) resilient.
\nFrom the League of Canadian Poets:
\n“What does it mean to be resilient? We meet resilience in every corner we\u2019ve been backed into, every hardship that we endure. Resilience is geographical, spiritual, historical. It\u2019s the fight against climate change, the inner battle with mental health, the outcry for human rights and an end to systemic racism. Resilience is the backbone of generations of trauma, the silence at the dinner table, the bow to culture\u2019s violin. Resilience is the courage to start each day anew. This NPM 2021, we celebrate, reflect on and respect the resilience that has made us who we are.”
