TEAM AWARDS<\/b><\/p>\n
Each team will give 2 awards that are to be awarded at the year-end celebration for Athletics.\u00a0 Other awards may be given to athletes by their coach at team celebrations.<\/p>\n
Most Valuable Player<\/b><\/p>\n
This award will be given to the athlete who is the Most Valuable to the success of the team.<\/p>\n
Heart of a Lion Award<\/b><\/p>\n
This award will be given on the basis that the coach chooses.\u00a0 It may be for leadership, sportsmanship, dedication, hard work, etc.\u00a0 It is to reward an athlete for their special contribution to the team.<\/p>\n
INDIVIDUAL AWARDS<\/b><\/p>\n
Athlete of the Year\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
This award is given to one male and one female in grade 8, 9, 10, and senior (11 &12) who represents the best overall athlete.\u00a0 Multi-sport athletes are given a higher consideration toward winning this award.<\/p>\n
Outstanding Athlete in (a Single Sport)<\/b><\/p>\n
This award is given to a student who plays only one sport and excels above his\/her competition.<\/p>\n
Academic Athlete of the Year<\/b><\/p>\n
This award is given to the individual who best represents a well-rounded student who maintains high marks and participates in a number of sports.\u00a0 This award will go to a grade 10, 11, or 12 student with the highest GPA, with consideration given to the number of sports played and the academic rigor of the courses taken.<\/p>\n
Athletic Scholarship<\/b><\/p>\n
This award will go to a graduating student who meets the highest standard of the Academic Athlete of the Year award.<\/p>\n
AAA All Star Team (Academic and Athletic)<\/b><\/p>\n
This award will go any student who can meet the following:<\/p>\n
Sportsmanship Award<\/b><\/p>\n
This award will go to the student who best exemplifies the spirit of sport, fair-play, and sportsmanship.<\/p>\n
Sports Council Athletic Service Award<\/b><\/p>\n
This award will go to the member of the Sports Council who goes above and beyond to assist with the administration of sports at the school.<\/p>\n
Student Contribution to Lions Athletics Award<\/b><\/p>\n
This award will go to the student who contributes the most time and effort to assisting with Athletics programs.\u00a0 This could be for refereeing, score-keeping, coaching, managing, running tournaments, etc..<\/p>\n
Staff Contribution to Lions Athletics Award<\/b><\/p>\n
This award will go to the staff member that contributes the most to the Athletics programs.<\/p>\n
Alumni Contribution to Lions Athletics Award<\/b><\/p>\n
This award will go to the alumnus that contributes the most to the Athletics programs.<\/p>\n
Community Contribution to Lions Athletics Award<\/b><\/p>\n
This award will go to the community member that contributes the most to the Athletics programs.<\/p>\n
Lions Pride Career Recognition Medallion<\/b><\/p>\n
This award is given to athletes who participate in a number of sports throughout grades 8 -12.\u00a0 Athletes will earn points toward each level of the award and be given their awards as they achieve them.<\/p>\n
Bronze Medallion 24 — 39 points\u00a0 Comes with Small Block<\/p>\n
Silver Medallion 40 — 54 points Comes with Big Block<\/p>\n
Gold Medallion 55+\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 points Comes with a special gift<\/p>\n
