Jacey Bailey Rewrites Records

Jacey3Despite fighting off an illness, Burnaby Mountain’s grade twelve athlete, Jacey Bailey, had a multiple record breaking performance Saturday in the third place game at the 42nd Annual Britannia Bruins Invitational.

In a single game performance, Bailey has rewritten some of the most well documented basketball tournament records.  She shot 12 for 12 from 3-point range to set the record for most 3 pointers in a game by an individual.  Shattering the previous record of six.  At the same time setting the record for most 3-pointers by a team (12), which was previously set by the 2014 Lions at ten.  She also set the record for most 3 pointers in the tournament with a total of 17.

This outbreak of scoring helped her team to win third place at the tournament defeating Eric Hamber 66-48.  Bailey finished the game with a total of 55 points for another single game record which has stood since 1994.  She ended the tournament with 32 blocked shots and 103 points in three games, just shy of the 108 record and was recognized as a First Team All Star.

Mountain coach, James Morton, had high praise for her leadership after the game.
“I have rarely seen in a basketball player such humility and collegiately as I have seen with Jacey.  Her efforts in this tournament were remarkable and she continues to make her teammates better.”
