So much to learn – that must have been the thinking bubble of each participant in our Learning Tech Inquiry group. \u00a0It was a day to use the new technologies (laptops, ipads, software) and get a bit more comfortable.<\/p>\n

This is what we explored:<\/p>\n

  1. Start with a bit of brainstorming ideas. \u00a0We used\u00a0Padlet<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(previously known as\u00a0Wallwisher<\/em>) to park some ideas. \u00a0This online board provides space for collecting inspiration, images, links and grouping content.<\/li>\n
  2. Categorizing ideas?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Popplet<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0is a online application that allows images, writing, drawing, colours to visually convey ideas. \u00a0 Having an\u00a0online account can connect computers and ipads – students have ready access at home.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0An exploration of \u00a0Inspiration<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0offered a powerful way to embed video to frame our thinking process. \u00a0This gave us brainstorming with direct visual\/auditory memory support from the movie. \u00a0The addition of\u00a0rapid-fire<\/em>\u00a0tool (in Inspiration) gave us the ability to type almost at the “speed of thought”.<\/li>\n
  3. Image work – While image work can be done on the laptop, we chose to do this with iPads<\/a>. \u00a0The camera app<\/strong> on the iPad was used to take pictures or video and save them to the camera roll. \u00a0Importing these into other apps was simple to further communicate our learning. \u00a0We discussed the challenge of getting our projects off the device.<\/li>\n
  4. Screen capture – Screenhunter<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span> was downloaded and installed on our laptops. \u00a0[The software performs simple screen captures and cropping of any content displayed.]<\/li>\n
  5. Writing and Sharing\/Commenting support – in line with our brainstorm “out of the box” thinking, we went to 5-Card Flickr<\/strong> (http:\/\/5card.cogdogblog.com\/play.php?suit=5card<\/a>). \u00a0This site pulls random images from Flickr, which you select to create a story. \u00a0Once the \u00a05 images were selected, we used Screenhunter to capture the image. \u00a0This was inserted into a Google Doc<\/a><\/strong>. \u00a0Then the writing proceeded. \u00a0[Google Docs allows many people to be working on the same document at one time. Collaboration and revisioning at its best! \u00a0Students and teachers gain the power of the commenting feature to engage in dialogue.]<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    You can tell we had a very busy packed morning. \u00a0Time to mull over the activities and see how they might be used in our classes to support our inquiry journey. \u00a0We encourage you to try some of these and let us know how it went.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
