{"id":870,"date":"2017-09-17T19:15:53","date_gmt":"2017-09-18T02:15:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/inman-library\/?page_id=870"},"modified":"2019-09-01T22:32:47","modified_gmt":"2019-09-02T05:32:47","slug":"library-club","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.sd41.bc.ca\/inman-library\/library-club\/","title":{"rendered":"Library Club"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Library Monitor Duties and&nbsp;<\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Responsibilities (Grade 5-7)<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>If you are the kind of person who is organized, likes to focus on details, is responsible, gets pleasure out of helping others, and isn&#8217;t afraid to admit you don&#8217;t understand something and are not sure what to do, then being a library monitor might be just the job for you.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Library monitors are responsible for showing up at their scheduled time.&nbsp; If you are unable to show up for some reason you need to find someone to substitute for you, except if you are at home sick.<\/li>\n<li>You are responsible for helping to keep the library a safe, welcoming place where people can come to work or just find a quiet place.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Working in the library involves many different tasks.&nbsp; Some of them are mentioned below.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Shelving<\/h2>\n<p>Know the library layout and where different sections are located, using standard systems for organising the collection.<img class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com\/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSKPKRjp7wdbXY9dSx-tbP_AY3XnVw1D0JYcd4uMWKK6aZ9K-OQiw\" alt=\"Image result for shelving books clipart\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Arrange books on shelves from left to right, top to bottom, bay-by-bay.<\/li>\n<li>Follow numerical and alphabetical order of different sections.<\/li>\n<li>Keep shelves up to 3\/4 full and incorporate face-out display of attractive books.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure shelves stay tidy.<\/li>\n<li>Put books that are on the shelving cart away in the correct section of the library.
